Manchester\u2019s new 360,000 sq. ft. drama and TV hub The Space Project, has secured the first of its long term office tenants. First through the doors of the new facility are post-production specialists Flix Facilities and TV and film resource publishers Kays. They join the team from the BBC\u2019s new children\u2019s drama \u2018World\u2019s End\u2019 who are already on site in pre-production. The arrival of Flix and Kays represents the next step in the Project\u2019s strategy to create a cluster of support companies both on the Space Project\u2019s extensive campus or in associated buildings adjacent to the main site.<\/p>\n
Post production house Flix has been experiencing a period of rapid expansion over the past two years, adding to its operation in central Manchester with two locations at MediaCity totalling 29,000sq ft. the latest of which is the \u00a31million White Tower Project announced earlier this month. They will now enhance that portfolio with a new base at The Space Project, offering post production support to any on or off site productions interested in taking advantage of their facilities and expertise.
\nPublisher of Kays Production Manual for 32 years, Kays is the essential TV and film industry resource for Producers, Production Managers and Location Managers, with the company\u2019s product portfolio now including Kays iPhone, iPad and Android Apps. Already operating out of Pinewood Studios, the decision to establish a permanent footing at The Space Project in Manchester represents a significant investment in the growth potential of the production community in the North West.<\/p>\n
Both Flix and Kays will take up space within one of seven 410-795 sq. ft. offices starting this summer, while there is further office space in the main production building allocated for additional companies who can provide near to hand services to both on-site productions and the wider sector. The Space Project, a profit for purpose enterprise set up to grow opportunity and employment in the sector, is looking for companies which share the same aims.<\/p>\n
